Yesterday was laundry day and every time we go to the Laundry Mat we try very hard not to cave, but in the end we always do. It doesn't really help that when we do laundry we bring $5 dollar bills instead of separate $1 dollar bills to break into quarters, so now we've got this unbelievable weight hanging in our pockets, (even after we've finished feeding them into the washers) seemingly begging and pleading with us to blow it all. It also doesn't help that there's a much too convenient arcade inside the laundry mat. These ppl really though it through when they decided to have a laundromat business. Of course, supply your customers with an arcade that they can easily pop their excess quarters into while waiting for their laundry. Smart for them, bad for us. Of course we find ourselves thinking : What a silly idea to save them for next time, they are just quarters, they'll get lost anyway.
So in the end we do what any other young student with a low income would do - we play Pacman like crazy people!
Now, to the untrained eye Pacman may seem like a very simple game a young child could beat, though with 134 levels and those little ghosts that are so quick to kill you it gets wicked hard after - say, the first level? Although many have wasted their lives in front of this arcade game, I am relieved to say that we are not so dedicated...well not quite. It wasn't until Kyle came home telling me that he had looked up how to memorize the patterns of the ghosts and I felt excitement rise within me that the thought crossed my mind 'we might have a potential problem here'. Yes, my friends - we are addicted to Pacman. Due to this recent addiction, we are getting pretty darn good at it. If it were to spit out tickets like Skeeball does at the Nikelcade, I think we'd win a car or something.

Are you people CRAZY? Quarters are gold, GOLD I say!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to come steal your quarters so you don't foolishly spend them on pac-man.
you'll thank me later.
The alternative is that you could actually own a washer/dryer and then have to pay a serviceman $50.00 just to look at it so he can tell you that the reason it isn't working is because some jerk neighbor kid switched it's power off in the breaker box just for kicks. Now THATS a waste of money! (true story BTW)
